Acapulco is a major sea port city on the Pacific coast of Mexico, about 300 kilometers (190 miles) southwest from Mexico City. Given the large tourist industry of Acapulco, visitors can get there by plane, car, bus or cruise.
Plane
Mexico has invested a lot of money in the hospitality industry of Acapulco, so air fares have become increasingly affordable as international airlines added flights and infrastructure to sustain the increasing demand for flights to Acapulco. The IATA Airport code of the Juan N. Alvarez International Airport of Acapulco is ACA. Most flights to Acapulco stop first at the Mexico City International Airport (IATA Aiport Code is MEX). The flight from Mexico City to to Acapulco takes about 35 minutes. Once you land at Acapulco, you will be about 26 kilometers from downtown Acapulco.
**Driving
**The highway distance between Mexico City and Acapulco is a bit over 320 kilometers and the whole drive takes about 3 hours and a half to complete. You can choose between the "carretera libre" (free highway) and the "caseta" highway (tolls). If you're planning to travel by land, we suggest that you grab a bus at the main bus station of any Mexican city. Look for the "ejecutivo" service (executive service) because it is worth every penny. It includes snacks, air conditioning and movies. **
Cruise**
Acapulco is a popular stop for cruise ships running between South America, Europe and North America. Most major cruise ship lines have Acapulco as a destination.
