The Plaza Cívica is the traditional centre of Agua Prieta's civic and social life. Like most Mexican plazas, it is ringed by benches, fountains, and kiosks, and becomes most animated in the evenings and on weekends when families gather. The city hall (Palacio Municipal) faces the plaza, and the surrounding streets hold the main commercial activity of the city centre.
It is a useful orientation point in a city that is otherwise difficult to read as a visitor. The area around the plaza is safe to walk in the daytime and is where you will find the better restaurants and services.
