La Nueva Posada is the most atmospheric restaurant on the Ajijic lakefront, set in an old house with a walled garden directly on the malecon. The menu is traditional Mexican — pozole, chile en nogada when in season, enchiladas, good ceviche from the lake fish — and the setting is excellent for a leisurely lunch or dinner.
It doubles as a small hotel with rooms in the hacienda style. The garden dining is particularly pleasant in the evenings when the lake breeze picks up.
