Restaurante Colimilla

Colimilla is the waterfront fishing hamlet on the far shore of the lagoon, reachable by panga from the malecón in five minutes. The restaurants here — Restaurante Colimilla among the most established — sit on stilts above the water, with views back across the lagoon to Barra de Navidad's sandbar.

The menu is straightforward: whole fish, shrimp, oysters, and whatever else came in that morning, served with rice, beans, and tortillas. The fish is grilled or fried to your preference. It is not elegant, but the combination of fresh seafood, cold beer, and the sound of water lapping at the pilings makes it one of the better lunches available on this stretch of coast. The panga ride is part of the experience.
