Santa Rosa Wall is Cozumel's iconic vertical drop — a coral cliff that begins at around 20 metres and plunges into the abyss. Swim-throughs cut the wall at intervals, overhangs hide morays and lobsters, and the open blue beyond drops more than 300 metres to the bottom of the Yucatán Channel.
The dive runs as a drift along the wall, with most operators booking it as an afternoon dive. It is best in the calm conditions of late spring and early summer. A nearby site, Paso del Cedral, sits in shallower water and is famous for the schools of large grouper that loiter just off the reef.
