Neoclassical theatre with Dante ceiling fresco and folklorico shows

Guadalajara's main theatre, a Neoclassical gem inaugurated in 1866 with a columned portico modelled on the Parthenon. The interior ceiling fresco depicting scenes from Dante's "Divine Comedy" is worth the price of admission alone. The Jalisco Philharmonic performs here on Fridays and Sundays, and the Ballet Folklorico puts on a show every Sunday at 10:00 -- one of the best introductions to traditional Mexican dance you will find anywhere.
