Casa del Conde Rul y Valenciana

The grandest of the city's surviving colonial mansions, built in 1803 for the Conde Rul, owner of the Valenciana mine — a vast neoclassical block of pink cantera designed by the same architect (Eduardo Tresguerras) who designed many of the most important buildings of independent Mexico. Used now as state offices, but the façade and ground-floor courtyard are open.
