Mineral de Pozos (Day Trip)

A near-ghost town two hours east of Guanajuato, the remains of a once-flourishing silver-mining town that crashed in the 1930s. The streets of ruined haciendas, abandoned mine workings, and weed-grown plazas have been partially restored in recent years, with a handful of small hotels and restaurants reviving the centre. Worth a full day, ideally with an overnight stay. The drive is straightforward via federal highway.
