In the village of La Valenciana, a few minutes drive above the city, this restaurant occupies the upper floor of a beautifully restored former mine house behind the church of San Cayetano. The setting — colonial architecture, views over the hillside, exposed stone walls — is matched by the cooking: well-executed Mexican food using good local ingredients, at prices that seem very reasonable by international standards. Worth the trip up the hill.
