The city's older theatre, a few streets east of the Teatro Juárez, dating from 1788 and rebuilt several times after fires. The building has the sober neoclassical façade typical of late-colonial public architecture; the interior is a small horseshoe auditorium used for chamber music, smaller theatre productions, and Cervantino festival events. Worth a look from outside when no performance is scheduled.
