A handsome nineteenth-century building that was once the seasonal seat of the Sonoran state government, used when the heat in Hermosillo made the capital uninhabitable in summer. It is still used as Magdalena's city hall and the courtyard is open during working hours.
Look for the murals on the inner stairs depicting episodes from local history — Padre Kino founding the mission, the Tohono O'odham pilgrimage, the assassination of Colosio. The building sits a block north of the Plaza Monumental.
