The Looney Bean has been the morning meeting point for Mazatlan's American and Canadian expat community for the better part of two decades. It is a wood-floored coffee house at the south end of the Zona Dorada, with espresso drinks, decent breakfast pastries, and free wifi. The board out front lists yoga classes, language exchanges, and home-rental listings.
It is not a deep Mazatlan experience — but it is a useful early-morning anchor if you are staying in the Zona Dorada and want a coffee that is recognisable to a North-American palate before you head out for the day.
