Eating Out

Monterrey has its own distinct food culture, centred on grilled meat. Carne asada is the city's signature dish — beef grilled over wood or charcoal and eaten with flour tortillas, beans, and roasted vegetables. Cabrito (roasted baby goat) is the other great local speciality, found in restaurants throughout the city centre. The best places to eat are concentrated in Barrio Antiguo and the Chepito neighbourhood.
