UMA San Miguel is a coastal wetland and mangrove reserve near El Cuyo. Kayak trips head into the swamp channels, where flamingos, pelicans, crocodiles, and many smaller birds are the main draw.
It is best for visitors who want a more active nature outing than a standard lagoon boat trip. Sunrise and sunset tours are the most atmospheric, and birdwatchers should ask locally about the longer specialist outings.
