The main crossing is the McAllen–Hidalgo–Reynosa International Bridge, connecting downtown Reynosa to Hidalgo, Texas (a short taxi or bus ride from McAllen). A second bridge, the Gateway International Bridge, handles commercial traffic. Both are open around the clock. US citizens need a valid passport; other nationalities should check visa requirements for both sides.
By air: Reynosa International Airport (REX) has domestic connections to Mexico City and Monterrey. The main international gateway for this region is McAllen Miller International Airport (MFE) on the Texas side, with connections across the United States.
By bus: ADO, Noreste, and Omnibus de México run frequent services from Monterrey (about 3 hours) and Mexico City (12–14 hours). The main bus terminal (Central de Autobuses) is on the south side of the city.
From the US: Greyhound and McAllen transit routes connect McAllen to the bridge crossing. Once across, taxis and colectivos run into central Reynosa.
