Tacos El Franc

No-frills taquería famous for its carne asada and adobada.

Tacos El Franc is one of Tijuana's most recommended taco stands among the city's food obsessives — a permanent outdoor taquería near Mercado Hidalgo that draws long queues from a largely local clientele.

The menu is narrow: carne asada, adobada (marinated pork cooked on a vertical spit), and a few other grilled meats, served in corn or flour tortillas with the full spread of salsas and toppings. The tortillas are made fresh on site. Everything arrives with a mound of grilled spring onions.

This is the Tijuana taco experience at its most direct — eat standing, drink a soda, and then eat again. The stand is busiest at lunch and in the early evening; arrive early or expect to queue.
