Cerro de la Bufa

Cerro de la Bufa rises immediately east of the historic centre and gives the classic view over Zacatecas: pink stone, narrow streets, church towers, and dry hills beyond. It is the easiest place to grasp the city's ravine setting.

You can reach the hill by road or combine it with the Teleférico. There are monuments, small museums, and vendors at the top, but the view is the main event.

A story
The hill was a key position during the 1914 Battle of Zacatecas, when Pancho Villa's División del Norte defeated federal troops and helped break Victoriano Huerta's regime. The views are peaceful now, but the monuments on top remember a very violent day.
