A 40-metre waterfall pouring down the southern flank of Volcán Maderas, reached by a steep three-kilometre hike from the village of San Ramón. The walk takes about an hour and a half each way and climbs steadily through farmland and then forest. The fall itself is at its most dramatic in the wet season; in the dry months it can be reduced to a thin streak down the rock face.
The pool at the base is small but cold and welcome after the climb. Bring water, decent shoes, and prepare for mud. A guide is not strictly required but the path is occasionally hard to follow and the village charges a small entrance fee that goes toward maintenance.
