Eating Out

Managua's restaurants are scattered across the sprawling city rather than concentrated in one district. Intermezzo del Bosque, just outside downtown, offers fine dining on an outdoor terrace with views of the city and surrounding woods — entrees run $6-18 and the atmosphere is worth the price. Casa Mexico, near the Tiscapa lagoon, serves authentic Mexican food in a fun setting at budget prices. For cheap local food, the comedores (small eateries) around the markets serve Nicaraguan staples like gallo pinto, nacatamales, and fried plantains.
