Aguadilla's coastline faces the open Atlantic on the island's northwest tip, which means consistent swells and some of the best surf in Puerto Rico. Crash Boat Beach is the most popular stretch — calm enough on its shoreward side for swimming and snorkelling, with a surf break further out that attracts both beginners and experienced riders. The Wilderness break to the north is strictly for surfers with confidence in bigger, faster waves. The water along this coast is startlingly clear, the turquoise colour deepening to blue where the continental shelf drops away offshore.
