Casa Museo Francisco Oller is a small Bayamón museum dedicated to Francisco Oller, Puerto Rico's great nineteenth-century painter and one of the first Latin American artists to engage seriously with Impressionism. The house-museum setting keeps the visit intimate rather than encyclopedic.
It is most rewarding if you already have some interest in Puerto Rican art or want a cultural stop away from San Juan's more familiar circuit. Oller's work links European training with island subjects, and the museum helps place that achievement back in his hometown.
