Carretera La Cuchilla Chicharrón Stalls

Bayamón is famous across Puerto Rico for chicharrón — deep-fried pork rind, eaten as a snack with a squeeze of lemon and a cold beer. The road traditionally associated with chicharrón is the Carretera La Cuchilla south of town, where roadside stalls and small lechoneras sell slabs of crisp pork by weight, alongside morcilla blood sausage, fried pasteles, and yuca.

Drive the road on a Sunday afternoon and you'll see Puerto Rican families pulled over at picnic tables. Cash only at most places. The quality varies stall to stall; locals have their favourites, but any place with a queue is a reasonable bet.
