Cockleshell Bay

The longest stretch of sand on the island and the furthest you can drive on the peninsula. The beach curves for two miles along a wide sheltered bay facing south, with the volcanic cone of Nevis Peak filling the view across the channel — one of the best beach panoramas in the Caribbean.

The water is shallow and calm, with good snorkelling at the rocky end. A handful of beach bars line the sand, including the well-known Reggae Beach Bar & Grill and Spice Mill, both serving lunch under thatched roofs to a mostly cruise-passenger crowd. It is busiest when ships are in port, quiet otherwise.
