Frigate Bay

The most developed beach on St. Kitts, a few minutes' drive south of Basseterre and ringed by hotels and condos. Frigate Bay is actually two beaches back to back across a narrow isthmus: the calm Caribbean side and the rougher Atlantic side a five-minute walk away.

The Atlantic side, sometimes called "The Strip", is the centre of the island's nightlife — a row of beach bars and grills strung along the sand that get lively from late afternoon into the small hours. Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack and Buddies Beach Hut are long-running favourites. The Caribbean side is calmer and better for daytime swimming.
