Lower Bay is Bequia's other great beach — half a mile of white sand on the south side of the island, separated from Princess Margaret Beach by a low headland and reached either by a footpath over the headland from Princess Margaret or by minibus from Port Elizabeth.
It is quieter, less developed, and slightly wilder than Princess Margaret. A small village of weatherboard houses backs the beach, and two or three small restaurants serve cold beers, fresh-grilled fish, and rotis directly onto the sand. The snorkelling at the southern end of the beach is the best near Port Elizabeth — bring fins and a mask.
