Princess Margaret Beach

Princess Margaret Beach is the closest good beach to Port Elizabeth — a fifteen-minute walk or short water taxi ride along the south shore of the bay. The sand is soft and white, the water is calm and clear, and the fringe of sea-grape trees provides shade. It is one of the more beautiful beaches in the Grenadines.

The beach has a couple of small beach bars and a snack stand, but nothing that could be called a resort. At the southern end, the rocks provide some of the better snorkelling near town. A water taxi from the dinghy dock is the easiest way to get there if you are staying in Port Elizabeth or on a boat in the bay.

A story
Princess Margaret Beach gets its name from a royal visit in 1958, when Princess Margaret stopped here during a Caribbean tour and reportedly declared it her favourite beach. Whether she said it or someone decided she ought to have, the name stuck. The beach itself has changed very little since.
