Pasture Bay

Pasture Bay sits at the northeastern tip of Mustique, a long drive or walk from the main village, and rewards the effort with something rare on this small island: genuine solitude. The beach is exposed to the Atlantic and the surf can be strong, making it less suitable for swimming than Gelliceaux but excellent for sitting in front of waves without another person in sight.

From May to October, hawksbill turtles come ashore here at night to nest. If you walk the beach after dark during nesting season, go quietly and without torches pointing directly at the sand — the turtles are sensitive to disturbance when choosing their nest sites. The Mustique Company monitors the nesting and can advise on sightings. Witnessing a large sea turtle emerge from the surf in the dark on a private Caribbean island is one of those experiences that is difficult to adequately describe afterwards.
