Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is the main non-beach family stop in Gulf Shores. It moved inland after repeated hurricane trouble near the coast, and now has a larger, more resilient campus with big cats, primates, reptiles, lemurs, and keeper-led encounters.
It is not the reason to come to Gulf Shores, but it is a useful break from the sand, especially with children or on a stormy afternoon.
