Fort Morgan

Fort Morgan stands at the mouth of Mobile Bay, about 25 miles west of central Gulf Shores. The brick fort was completed in the nineteenth century and is best known for its role in the Battle of Mobile Bay during the Civil War.

The site gives the Fort Morgan peninsula a historical anchor beyond beaches and rental houses. Walk the walls, look across the bay toward Dauphin Island, and consider using the ferry if you want to link both sides of the bay in one long day.
