A 1918 working pharmacy in Columbus, just across the river, with a marble-topped soda fountain that serves the regional speciality known as the scrambled dog: a chopped-up hot dog buried under chilli, mustard, onions, dill pickle chips, and oyster crackers. It is messy, salty, and absurdly satisfying.
The pharmacy itself still fills prescriptions; the lunch counter takes orders all morning and lunchtime. Counter seats only, cash preferred, no website. A genuine local institution that has barely changed since the Patterson assassination era and still draws lines on Saturday afternoons. About 10 minutes drive from downtown Phenix City.
