Phenix City sits on the Alabama side of the Chattahoochee River, directly opposite Columbus, Georgia. The nearest commercial airport is Columbus Airport (CSG) with limited service, mostly Delta connections to Atlanta. Atlanta Hartsfield (ATL) is two hours north and is the practical choice for international or low-cost connections.
By car — Phenix City is on US-280 and US-431. From Atlanta, take I-85 south to LaGrange, then US-27 south (about 1 hour 45 minutes). From Montgomery, take I-85 east then US-80 east (about 1 hour 30 minutes).
By bus — Greyhound stops in Columbus across the river.
Crossing the river — Several bridges link the two cities: the modern J.R. Allen Parkway (US-80) for traffic, and the historic Dillingham Street and 14th Street bridges for pedestrians and cyclists.
