A 22-mile paved path running along both sides of the Chattahoochee River from Lake Oliver in the north down to Fort Moore in the south, with the Phenix City and Columbus sections linked by half a dozen pedestrian bridges. The riverbank is parkland for most of its length — picnic spots, benches, exercise equipment, the occasional historical marker.
The Phenix City side is generally quieter and shadier than the Columbus side, and the views across to the Columbus skyline are best from the west bank. Cyclists and joggers from both cities use it constantly. Pick up the trail at the Idle Hour Park parking lot for an easy starting point.
