Where Anchorage locals take out-of-town guests for a serious dinner. The dining room sits on the bluff above Cook Inlet with floor-to-ceiling windows; on a clear evening you watch the sun set over the inlet with Denali in the distance. The menu is steak, chops, and seafood, with prime rib as the house signature. The bar makes a proper Sazerac.
Reservations are necessary in summer. Service is old-school and unhurried; allow two hours for dinner. Open since 1978 and one of the few institutions in the city to have weathered Anchorage's restaurant boom-and-bust.
