The Kingman Railroad Depot is a handsome 1907 Mission Revival structure that still functions as an Amtrak station — one of the most attractive small-town train stations still operating in the American Southwest. The Santa Fe Railway built the depot when Kingman was a key division point on the transcontinental line, and the building's red-tile roof and arched loggia have survived intact.
The Southwest Chief still stops here, making Kingman one of the few Route 66 towns reachable by train. The depot is open when trains are scheduled (the eastbound and westbound Chiefs typically stop in the early hours), and the exterior is worth a look any time. It sits at the southern end of the historic downtown, a short walk from the Route 66 Museum.
