Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West

The American West museum opened on the south side of Old Town in 2015 and quickly became one of Scottsdale's strongest cultural draws. It rotates exhibits across cowboy and Native American art, photography of the West, and the cultural history of the nineteen-state region the museum defines as "the West".

The standing collection includes works by Frederic Remington, Charles Russell, and contemporary indigenous artists, and the building itself — with corten steel walls and an austere central courtyard — is a piece of architecture worth a slow walk-through. Two hours is enough for most of the visit.
