Old Main is the oldest building on the ASU campus, completed in 1898 when the school was the Tempe Normal School and Arizona was still a territory. It's a handsome two-storey Victorian structure of buff brick, with arched windows and a deep porch facing the palm-lined quad.
For decades it was the entire university. Today it houses university administration and an alumni heritage gallery on the ground floor that anyone can wander into. The lawn in front, with its mature palms and shaded benches, is a good place to pause between exploring the campus and Mill Avenue.
