Downtown Tucson is a compact, low-rise grid of red-brick warehouses, restored Spanish-revival public buildings, and narrow tree-lined streets — surprisingly walkable for an American Southwest city. Congress Street is the main spine, running east from the historic Presidio block past the Hotel Congress and the Rialto and Fox theatres.
The downtown revival of the last two decades has filled the formerly empty storefronts with restaurants, cocktail bars, breweries, and indie galleries. The Sun Link streetcar runs every ten minutes between downtown and the University. Day or night, this is where the city feels most alive.
