The town has two centres of gravity: the courthouse square downtown, where most evenings of the year someone is playing — pickers gather under the porches and the music carries across the lawn — and the Ozark Folk Center two miles north, where the same tradition is practised more formally on a daily schedule. Add the Blanchard Springs Caverns in the national forest fifteen miles north, a float trip on the White River, and a few hours wandering the historic main street's storefronts, and a long weekend fills itself.
