Atascadero Lake Park

A 30-acre park around a small artificial lake on the south side of town. Footpath circuit (about a mile), picnic ramadas, a playground, a pavilion used for community events, and a small fishing pier. The lake holds bass and catfish; California fishing licences apply.

The Charles Paddock Zoo is at the north edge of the park, and the Pavilion is the venue for the city's Independence Day fireworks and the Lakeside Wine Festival. Bring water in summer — temperatures here reliably climb into the high 90s°F.
