Sand Dollar Beach is one of the most accessible and spacious beaches in southern Big Sur, reached by a short trail from the Highway 1 day-use area. The strand is wide by local standards, backed by cliffs, and popular with surfers, beach walkers, and sunset watchers.
The Pacific here is powerful even when it looks inviting, so treat swimming with caution and watch for sneaker waves. Low tide gives the most room to walk, while winter and spring can bring especially dramatic surf.
