A story
The mansion was the home of Robert McHenry, who arrived in Modesto in the 1850s and made a fortune running a flour mill, the local bank, and a vast cattle ranch. After his daughter Jessie's death in 1938 the house slowly decayed until the Gallo wine family bought and donated it to the city in 1976, paying for a full restoration.
