Chula Vista sits 8 miles south of downtown San Diego and is most easily reached from San Diego by car on I-5 south. The drive from downtown takes 15–20 minutes without traffic. From the Mexican border at San Ysidro, Chula Vista is about 5 miles north on I-5.
The San Diego Trolley Blue Line stops in central Chula Vista at the E Street and H Street stations, connecting the city to downtown San Diego in about 25 minutes. Trains run frequently throughout the day and evening. The trolley continues south to the San Ysidro border crossing.
San Diego International Airport (SAN) is about 10 miles north. Car rental is available at the airport, and the trolley provides a connection (with a transfer in downtown San Diego) for those without a car.
