Every Thursday evening from October through May, Palm Canyon Drive is closed to traffic from Amado to Baristo and transformed into an outdoor street market. VillageFest has been running since 1991 and is one of the better farmers' and craft markets in southern California — genuinely local produce, decent street food, and a mix of artists and artisans alongside the produce stalls.
The atmosphere is relaxed and sociable. It draws a mix of locals, retirees, and weekenders from Los Angeles, and it runs until 10pm, which makes it a good way to spend a Thursday evening before dinner. In summer (June through September) the market moves to a shorter Friday evening schedule to avoid the worst heat.
