The Sacramento Kings are the city's NBA franchise, playing at Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento from October through April. The Kings have not won a championship since moving from Kansas City in 1985, but they have a loyal fan base and the arena provides some of the most comfortable and best-value NBA viewing in the country — Sacramento is a smaller market than Los Angeles or San Francisco, and tickets are considerably easier to obtain.
The arena's location in the Downtown Commons (DOCO) makes it easy to combine a game with dinner at one of the surrounding restaurants. The Kings have a young roster as of the mid-2020s with genuine promise; games are worth attending for the atmosphere alone. Tickets can usually be purchased same-day for non-marquee matchups.
