Shopping

Sacramento's most interesting shopping is in the independent neighbourhoods rather than the malls. Midtown's J and K streets have a good run of independent boutiques, vintage stores, and bookshops. The Broadway corridor in the Tower neighbourhood is where to find used records, second-hand books, and independent gift shops. The Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op on Freeport Boulevard is the best single food shopping stop in the city.

Westfield Downtown Plaza was Sacramento's central mall for decades; the Golden 1 Center development has transformed that site into the Downtown Commons (DOCO), with new retail. For mainstream shopping, the suburban malls at Arden Fair and Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights have the major retailers.
