San Gregorio State Beach is a rugged San Mateo Coast stop south of Half Moon Bay, where a creek meets the ocean below eroded bluffs. The beach is more windswept and natural than resort-like, with driftwood, sand, and broad Pacific views.
It works well as part of a coastal drive rather than a single-destination beach day. Conditions can be rough, so visitors come for walking, photography, and scenery rather than casual swimming.
