Things to Do

Half Moon Bay's appeal is outdoors. The four-mile state beach, the working harbour at Pillar Point, the legendary big-wave break at Mavericks, and a coastal trail that runs the whole length of town are the main attractions. A handful of historic farmsteads and a fine 1860s church on Main Street fill in the cultural side. Most visitors come for one good day on the coast, then drive Highway 1 either north toward Devil's Slide or south past Pescadero.
