Sierra Star Golf Club is Mammoth Lakes' only full 18-hole course, set at altitude among pine forests with mountain views on every hole. The course is a genuine resort track rather than a filler — it plays to 6,600 yards from the back tees, with elevation changes and mountain winds making club selection genuinely interesting.
The season runs from late May through October depending on snowfall, and tee times can be booked in advance. Morning rounds have the best light and the clearest air; afternoons can bring afternoon thunderstorms in summer, which are common in the Sierra Nevada. The high altitude and clean air make a round of golf at Sierra Star a pleasant surprise even for visitors who came primarily for hiking or skiing.
