The Egyptian Theatre is one of Hollywood Boulevard's classic movie palaces. Built in 1922 for Sid Grauman, it staged the first Hollywood film premiere and still has much of the Egyptian Revival showmanship that made early cinema-going feel like an event.
It now screens classic films, documentaries, and special programmes. The main reason to come is the building itself: the courtyard, stage-set facade, and restored auditorium make a good companion stop to the nearby Chinese Theatre and Walk of Fame.
