Saint Patrick's Seminary and University sits at the eastern edge of Menlo Park's upscale hillside quarter, on a large campus that has changed relatively little since its founding. The main buildings, constructed from the late 1890s onward, form an imposing Romanesque complex set around a quadrangle with formal gardens. The chapel interior has elaborate painted decoration and stained glass from the early 20th century.
The seminary is not open for casual visits, but the exterior of the buildings and the perimeter gardens can be seen from the surrounding roads, and the campus is visible from the Stanford campus nearby. It represents a relatively rare example of ambitious early 20th-century institutional architecture in an area that has otherwise been almost entirely remade by technology industry development. The seminary remains active as a training institution for the Archdiocese of San Francisco.
